The Vienna Secessionist is a group of designer / architect based in Vienna, Austria. Its withdrew from Academy of Fine Arts and the Kunstlerhaus exhibition in 1897 because their works was rejected and its also known as the 'Vienna School' or 'Wiener Secession'. 

Design Style

fluid, with smooth lines and early work was within the Art Nouveau style. Later, square shapes and play of angles compared to Art Nouveau which is more fluid. The design is greatly influenced by two-dimensional Japanese block prints.

S e c e s s i o n 

PRAIRIE SCHOOL/ STYLE

Early 20th century architectural style, most common to the USA. Its developed with the same ideals and design aesthetics of the Arts and Crafts Movement and called prairie style because they were designed to blend in with the flat, prairie landscape.

Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the father of moden architect. His career has many phases (more than 60 years). The early phase was famous for his 'Prairie Style'.

Characteristics 

  • Low, horizontal lines - to blend with the flat landscape    around them.
  • Asymmetrical ground plan, with open plan design.
  • Shallow roofs with deep overhangs.

De Stijl 

SCHRODER’S HOUSE

Utrecht, 1924

Designed by Rietveld for Mrs. Schroder and her three children and this house is become an icon of De Stijl architecture. In 2000 become one of UNESCO World Heritage Site .

- surface with primary values : gray & white
- highlights using primary colours
